An appearance on the Nike By You platform in early January was interpreted by many as a sign that the Nike Dunk‘s reign was coming to an end. Almost four months later, however, the opposite has proven true, as Peter Moore’s 36-year-old design has only extended its releaser roster by the dozen, fetching baffling buyouts on the after-market. Much of the Swoosh’s plans for the silhouette continue living under wraps, but newly-surfaced in-hand images of a mismatched, multi-color pair are sure to keep enthusiasts of the sneaker invested for at least another while.
Disparate color palettes aren’t new to the Dunk Low, but their application on the forthcoming pair is refreshing. For starters, the included hues are equal parts spring pastel and fall-friendly metallics; hits of purple, pink and green switch places between right and left shoes. Furthermore, smooth, matte paneling is replaced by a mix of soft, durable suede and shimmering leather, the latter prominently overtaking the profile swooshes, upper heel overlays and forefoot reinforcement. No other Nike Sportswear options have emerged in a remotely-similar arrangement, but that may change as summer gets underway. If it doesn’t, this recently-teased style will, at the very least, deliver similar flair as the previously-seen “FREE.99” collection.
Enjoy a first-look at this colorfully-mismatched low-top Dunk ahead, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS release in the near future.
