Although the unwavering popularity of the Nike Dunk Low has helped re-solidify its place in urban culture, it is that very culture that continues to fuel new, thoughtful designs for the 1985 silhouette. Case in point: the Dunk Low “City Market”—a collage of eclectic materials and visuals that celebrate the Swoosh’s innovative heritage and the ever-inspiring cityscape—to be released tomorrow.
The pair’s brightly-colored, mixed-materials uppers are a nod to the industrial rice and coffee bags repurposed at urban markets. Some of the graphics on the uppers sneak in references to Blue Ribbon Sports, which traces back to Nike’s 1967 roots. Furthering the city market aesthetic, the tag on the tongue mimics a nutrition facts label, while the tongue itself consists of a textured, translucent zippered pocket that alludes to reusable grocery totes. These bags are also cited on one of the insoles via a graphic that reads “Thank You For Caring!”
Try your luck for a pair at the retailers listed below on March 4th for $110.
